Hello everyone, I was given the challenge from Paper Rose to use the Carrot Patch paper collection in any way but Easter, so here's what I came up with. I didn't make a video for this as these cards are quite straightforward and I will try to explain what I did with each card.
Paper Rose Studio Supplies: The Carrot Patch 6x6 Paper Collection 36250, The Carrot Patch Basics 6x6 Paper Collection 36283, The Carrot Patch 6 x 8" Cut Aparts 36277, Leaf Burst Rectangle Frame Metal Cutting Die 20547, Farm Border 2 Barn Metal Cutting Die 18789 (discontinued), Farm Border 1 Cows Metal Cutting Die 18786, Farm Border 3 Tractor Metal Cutting Die 18792 (discontinued).
So the first card is a simple baby card. The card measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" tall, and I used one of the papers from the 6 x 6" Carrot Patch (36250) collection to cover my cardbase. I cut the tag from the Cut Aparts and just added a ribbon to the top. I also added Glossy Accents to parts of the basket and the bow. I traced around the tag on a scrap of white cardstock and then just enlarged that shape and fussy cut it out. I adhered the white tag to the center of my card base, and then added the bunny tag to the center of that after applying double sided foam tape to the back of it. The sentiments were all cut out from the Cut Aparts and added to the card front. The final step was to add a few pearl beads.
The wedding card measures 5" wide by 6" tall, so I will probably put that in a 6 x 6" envelope. I started by covering my card base with one of the Carrot Patch Basics papers (36283). I die cut the Leaf Burst die from white cardstock twice and then glued these layers together. I cut a piece of rose coloured foil to fit behind the die cut rectangle and adhered the glued together Leaf Burst layers to this. I then centered this onto the card base and glued it down. I trimmed down the Cut Apart center image slightly so that foil would show through on both sides, and attached this with double sided foam tape to the center of the card. I fussy cut the butterfly from the Cut Aparts and attached just the center, allowing the wings to lift slightly. Finally, I added a few pearls.
The Hoppy Birthday card measures 5" tall by 5 3/4" wide, so will also go into a 6 x 6" envelope. I started this one by using the 3 farm border dies and cutting them from black cardstock. (I have to apologize because I bought the 3 farm layering dies as a bundle from the US Paper Rose site, but when I was creating this post, I realized that 2 of them have now been discontinued.) Then I traced the bottom edge of the border die onto the patterned paper and fussy cut these out. This allowed the patterned paper to leave a small black border when adhered to the corresponding black layer. I added these layers to my card base by adding scraps of white cardstock behind the bottom and middle layers, so there is a bit of dimension to this card. Finally, I added the images and sentiment.
The Rooting For You card is a fun fold card which is quick and simple to make.
Now, my sketch is definitely not to scale, especially that second drawing! However, I started with a piece of 10 3/4" by 5 1/2" cardstock that was lighter in weight - mine was 80# cardstock. If you use heavier cardstock, it's harder to get the front tabs to stay folded under each other. I scored along the 10 3/4" side at 1 5/8" and 3 1/4" and then rotated my card and scored the same on the other end. The two center scorelines are valley folds so they fold in towards each other, and the outer two scorelines are mountain folds so they fold away from the center. This is basically a type of gatefold card.
Next, I cut a 3 1/2" square from white cardstock, as well as a 3" square. I added a black mat to both of these and also one to the center inside the card. I also used a piece of the patterned paper to add another layer to the inside, and then topped this with a scrap piece of white cardstock. I also added one of the Cut Apart images to the bottom of the inside of the card. On the front squares, I added a couple of images from the Cut Aparts also. To adhere these to the front, I started with the larger square and placed it in the upper left hand corner of the folded card. You only want to put glue behind this matted layer on the left where it will attach to the folded section of the card base. It will slide under the tab that goes on the right, but to do this, you can only put glue on the back of the far right side of the lower tab. I've tried to show this in the drawing above. Hopefully, this all makes sense. Finally, I just added a few pearls to the front tabs.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope I've given you some more ideas on how to use this collection.
