Stretching Our Dies *VIDEO*

Hello everyone, I've been playing with some border dies and trying to find more ways to use them. I love to feel I've got my money's worth out of my card making supplies, and dies are some of the most expensive things we own. I've used my dies in several different ways on this card, and I'm hoping it will inspire you to look at your own dies (especially coverplate and border dies) to see if you can put them to more use.

Paper Rose Studio Supplies: Diagonal Stripe Border Die 28390, Wedding Blooms Border Metal Cutting Die 31602Thanks Border Word Metal Cutting Die 31950, Etched Blooms 4 Metal Cutting Die 28939, Little Foliage 1 Metal Cutting Die 21099, Rainbow Twirl 2.0 12x12 Paper Collection 31046

So I've created stencils out of the two border dies and used Versamark Ink and some mica powder to add colour and a lot of shine.  The stencils were applied to both the front of my card (Wedding Blooms Border die), and also to the inside of my card (Diagonal Stripe border die).  I also die cut an extra border with the Diagonal Stripe die to apply over the front of my card.  You can see how this card came together in a short video, if you CLICK HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I hope I've given you a little inspiration today!

Aimee Flower Cards

Hello everyone, I've got 3 cards to share today, all featuring the Aimee Flower die from Paper Rose Studio.  I wanted to try to come up with some different ways to use this die because I always think it's good to use our dies in many different ways.  But I had many more ideas than just these cards - such as making the flowers out of vellum, adding only jewels to the centers, using patterned paper to die cut the flowers, etc.  So let me show you what I did come up with.

Paper Rose Studio supplies: Aimee Etched Flower Metal Cutting Die 30003, Flower Shoppe Basics 6x6 Paper Collection 33678 , Alabaster White Shimmer Cardstock A5 10pc 29524, Nesting Circles Metal Cutting Die 17424, Blooming Blossoms Assorted Shimmer Cardstock A5 7pc 29748

For this card, I adhered one of the Flower Shoppe Basics papers to a 5 1/2" square card base and rounded the top two corners of the card.  I then scored a line on the front at 2 3/4" from the straight edge (this is halfway up on the front), and then I folded this done in a mountain fold to create an easel style card.

I then used the largest circle die to cut a circle from the butterfly piece of paper from that same collection, and I used a smaller die with that same larger circle die, to also cut a circle frame from the Alabaster White Shimmer cardstock.  I cut two more of these frames from white cardstock scraps and glued them all together with the Alabaster one on top.  I then glued the frame in place over the butterfly circle, and then applied glue only to the lower half of this circle and adhered it to the card front below the score line. I love how when you stand up the easel card, the circle shape is accentuated.

Next, I die cut the Aimee flowers from the Blooming Blossoms cardstock and some from scraps of light pink cardstock.  I used a ball stylus to shape the flowers and then added some foam tape between the layers.  I cut all the centers from the Alabaster cardstock and shaped them as well.  The leaves were cut from some inked pieces of cardstock. I assembled these flowers and leaves around the frame, and added a few pearl gems around the top.  The small butterfly was fussy cut from one of the Flower Shoppe Basics papers.  Finally, I die cut the "hello" three times from scraps of white cardstock and one from the Blooming Blossoms shimmer cardstock.  I glued these layers together, and finally glued the sentiment inside the card to act as a stopper for the easel portion of the card.

Paper Rose Studio supplies: Aimee Etched Flower Metal Cutting Die 30003, Vintage Label 2 Metal Cutting Die 32064, Layered Happy Inked Small Metal Cutting Die 31587, Rainbow Poppies A5 12pc Sentiment Sheets 25603, Flourish 6x6" Stencil 19112, Alabaster White Shimmer Cardstock A5 10pc  Also used: Liquitex Gloss Heavy GelDistress Rock Candy Glitter

This card started by cutting a piece of the Alabaster White cardstock into a 6" square.  I did some ink blending onto this cardstock through the Flourish stencil, using a few different blue and teal inks. I then cleaned off my stencil and reapplied it over the pattern.  I used the Liquitex gel to add a glossy layer and before removing the stencil, I sprinkled on the Distress Rock Candy glitter.  I set this aside to dry and cleaned off my stencil and palette knife.

While the background was drying, I die cut the flowers from some scraps of blue cardstock, and shaped them with a ball stylus.  The centers were cut from the Alabaster white cardstock and also shaped.  I assembled the flowers again by adding foam tape between the layers, and behind the centers.  I added a small circle of glue around the Alabaster centers, and then sprinkled on some blue seed beads and pushed them into a circle around the white centers.  The leaves were cut from white cardstock scraps.

Once my background was dry, I brushed off any excess glitter, trimmed it to be 5 1/2" square, and then die cut the opening using the Vintage Label die.  I also cut a frame for this from three layers of white cardstock, and inked one of them with the same blue and teal inks I'd used for the background.  I also inked a scrap of white cardstock to die cut the sentiment from.

To assemble my card, I applied foam tape behind the stencilled background and attached it to the 5 1/2" card base.   I glued the "happy" sentiment in place and cut out one of the Rainbow Poppies sentiments to fit below it.  Then I adhered the flowers and leaves around the bottom of the die cut opening.

Paper Rose Studio supplies: Aimee Etched Flower Metal Cutting Die 30003, Perfect Pansies 3D Embossing Folder 32946, Flourish 6x6" Stencil 19112, Fancy Script Layered Wishes Metal Cutting Die 32457

This card started with some stencilling onto white cardstock using the Flourish stencil and the same blue and teal inks used in the second card. I die cut the flowers from this cardstock once it was dry, and then shaped them again with a ball stylus.  I added foam tape again between the layers when I assembled them. I had an assortment of buttons in my craft room and decided to use these for the centers.

I found a piece of blue cardstock that I cut down and embossed with the Perfect Pansies 3D embossing folder.  I brushed across the raised edges with a Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink pad to accentuate the embossed pattern, and then mounted this onto a card base. I glued the assembled flowers into place and added a few leaves.  I die cut the Wishes sentiment from white cardstock three times and glued the layers together.  Finally, I added the sentiment to the card front.

I hope I've been able to give you a little inspiration today on using the Aimee flower die, or really any other floral die you may have.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're all having a great day!

Easter Time Cards *VIDEO*

Hello everyone, I've got 3 cards to share today.  They are all simple cards to make and just require a few score lines, but they add so much depth to your cards.  I hope you will give these a try!

So you can see that each of these cards are created with just a few score lines to add the dimension.  The first card just has a simple step extension on the front to allow the gnome to stand away from the background slightly.  The second card is a gatefold card with one extra scoreline in it, but that adds loads of dimension.  And finally, the last card is a simple bridge style card.

I've created a video showing how each of these cards were made and I hope you'll come join me over there to see how easy it is to add some extra interest to your cards.  To watch the video, PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Thank you all so much for stopping by and I hope you're having a great day!

Wedding Blooms Cards

Hello everyone, I've got 3 fun fold cards to share today, and all of them are made with the Wedding Blooms collection from Paper Rose Studio.  I didn't have time to create a video for you, so I will do my best to walk you through each card.

Paper Rose Studio Products: Wedding Blooms Cut Aparts Paper Pack 31410, Wedding Blooms Textures 6x6 Paper Collection 31770, Wedding Blooms Border Metal Cutting Die 31602,  Congratulations Small Metal Cutting Die 28927, Tufted Elegance 3D Embossing Folder 32154

For all 3 cards today, I used the Wedding Blooms Cut Aparts images which I fussy cut out.  I also added a little gold foil to all of them. I used a tacky-when-dry style of glue such as Tombow Mono or Scrapbook.com glue.  I applied small amounts of glue to the areas of the image I wanted to highlight and then set them aside to dry.  When the glue is dry, it will turn translucent and will be tacky.  I added some Cosmic Shimmer Golden Jewels Gilding Flakes to the tacky areas, and then brushed the excess off.  I love the extra shine the foil brings to the images!

This first card is a bridge style card and is easy to make.  I started with an 8" wide by 6" tall piece of 110# cardstock.  I scored it along the 8" wide edge at 1", 2', 6" and 7".  Then I folded and scored this to make a mountain, valley, valley, mountain fold as you can see in the picture.  I cut panels to fit the front, and for the large center piece, I embossed it with the Tufted Elegance embossing folder. After these were glued in place, I die cut 2 panels of the Wedding Blooms Border from white, 6" wide cardstock and glued them together.  I added this across the front of the card, lining up the edges.  Finally, I added the images and sentiment.  You could also decorate the back with more images.

Other Paper Rose Studio supplies: Wedding Blooms Layered Love Word Metal Cutting Die 31605

This is a split fold style of card and is easier than it may look.  I have a template for all the scoring and cutting here if you're interested - CLICK HERE

After scoring and cutting as explained in the template, I added panels of the Wedding Blooms Texture paper to the front.  I die cut the Love die twice from white cardstock, and once from gold foil cardstock and glued them together.  I glued the images to the center front and side panels, and then glued just the bottom of the Love word to the bottom of the front section.

Other Paper Rose Studio supplies:  Nesting Hearts Metal Cutting Die 28813

This card is a Stadium Wave style of card.  I've created these before, and I just keep extras of the acetate wave mechanism on hand for future use.  Here's a link to a video I've made if you're interested in making this style of card - CLICK HERE.

This card measures 6" wide by 5" tall.  I created the front by die cutting a heart out of one of the Wedding Blooms Textures papers that I had trimmed down to be 6" x 5".  I flipped the heart over to use the back side to now fill the heart opening.  I used a small circle die to cut the image from the Wedding Bloom Cut Aparts cardstock, and then mounted this on some foam and adhered it to the center of the heart.  I die cut the Love sentiment from white cardstock twice and glued them together.  I had to trim the flower and leaves off the bottom of the sentiment to make it fit on my card.

For the inside of the card, I attached the Wave mechanism on the left side of my card.  I prefer this side as its easier to write on the remaining card if you're right handed.  But if you're left handed, you may prefer to have you're mechanism oriented to fit on the right side of the card.  I believe that's all explained in the video.  Once the mechanism was in place, I added my images with either glue or double sided tape to the acetate strips.  Finally, I die cut the Congratulations sentiment from gold foil cardstock and adhered it the inside.

I hope that's given you some inspiration on how to use this collection - it's a beautiful wedding collection!

Bees and Butterflies Cards

Hello again,  I've got 3 cards to share today, but 2 of them are the same style.  I was just having fun and created the same card style again.

Paper Rose Studio Supplies: Bees & Butterflies 6x6 Paper Collection 33558, Bees & Butterflies Embossed Die Cuts 33585, Super Day Sentiments Stamp Set 25933, Fancy Script Layered Hello Metal Cutting Die 32478

Both of these cards are the same style and are easy to make.  I started with a 4 3/4" wide by 5 1/2" tall piece of cardstock.  I also cut 2 pieces of 3 3/4" wide by 5 1/2" tall pieces of cardstock.  I scored these along the 3-3/4" edge at 3/4", 1 1/2", 2 14' and at 3".  I  folded and scored all of these into mountain folds and then glued the last fold to the first section which created a tall square.  I then glued these squares to the left and right sides of the card front, lining up the edges.  Then I added panels of cardstock from the Bees & Butterflies paper collection to the front of the cards.  I also cut a strip of acetate that was 3 3/4" wide ( the height will depend on the images you want to add - mine was 1" high), and then scored it 1/4" in from both ends.  I folded and burnished the folds in mountain folds, added double sided tape to the ends, and then inserted the strips of acetate inside the front of the card between the square ends and about a third of the way up from the bottom.

Finally,  I added the images and sentiments to the card front and across the acetate strip.  You can add some dimension to the images that go in the center of the card, as I did with the large butterfly and the bee image.

Other Paper Rose Studio supplies: Beautiful Bouquet 3D Embossing Folder 32949

For this card, I cut down a panel of one of the Bees & Butterflies 6 x6 papers to be a little smaller than my card front.  I embossed this in the Beautiful Bouquet embossing folder, and then dragged some yellow Catherine Pooler ink across the raised surfaces to get a bit of shading.  I stamped and gold heat embossed the sentiment onto one of the tags that was in the Embossed Die Cuts collection.  I punched holes in the sides and threaded some thread through the holes and then wrapped the thread around to the back of the panel.  I then mounted the panel onto my card base, and added a few butterflies I had fussy cut out of the 6 x 6 paper.  Finally, I added a few gold pearls across the front.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope I've given you some ideas on how to use this collection.

EASTER PROJECTS *VIDEO*

Hello everyone, I've got a few Easter projects to share today, using the new Easter Village Collection from Paper Rose Studio.

The first project was a card that could also be used as an invitation to an Easter brunch or supper.  It's a simple gatefold with an opening cut out, so very easy to do.  The second project are some Easter baskets that also double as place markers for a table setting.  I've added a label to each basket with everyone's name on it, and of course, the adorable Easter Village embossed die cuts highlight the sides of each basket.  And finally, I've made some napkin rings from an old cardboard tube from some wrapping paper, and I've decorated them with some of the Easter Memories papers, and laminated images from one of the Easter Village papers.

I've made a video for you to show how each of these projects were done, so I hope you'll come join me for it.  To watch the video, PLEASE CLICK HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you're having a great day!

Split Fold Style Card

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and that the New Year proves to be a good one for you.  I've got a fun, split-fold style of card to share with you today and I have a PDF available if you want to give it a try.

Paper Rose Studio Supplies used: Vintage Rose 6x6 Paper Collection 33618, Vintage Rose Embossed Die Cuts 33645, Inked Happy Border Metal Cutting Die 31590, Happy Birthday Chunky Script Stamp Set 24640.

This card ends up measuring 4" wide by 5 1/2" tall when its folded down to go into an envelope.  You can make the height of it taller if you would prefer.  I've got a PDF of how to create this card available for you HERE.  It's actually quite a simple card with a mix of valley and mountain folds.  I used #110 cardstock for mine, and added the layers of paper from the 6 x 6" Vintage Rose paper pack.  I added some white cardstock in behind the "happy" die cut sentiment to help it stand out from the background.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was stamped with some Cranberry Fizz ink from Catherine Pooler.

Thank you for stopping by today, and I hope you'll give this card fold a try!
