Flowery Heart Card

Hello everyone!  Today I have a fairly simple card for you that could be used for Valentine's Day, for an anniversary or just a friend/family card.  

Supplies used: Rainbow Twirl F 12x12 Paper (12pc Bulk Pack) 30447 (I used papers F and D), Nesting Hearts Metal Cutting Die 28813, Little Foliage 1 Metal Cutting Die 21099 , Big Love You Metal Cutting Die 28855, 19499 Clear Crystal Mix

 

To create this card, I selected a section of the wreath on the Rainbow Twirl F paper and carefully cut out just enough to die cut with the largest of the heart nesting dies.  Believe me, I had to take a deep breath before cutting into that paper as it is so pretty and my tendency would be to hoard it! But I'm happy to say that I have a LOT of the wreath left over to make more cards with. 😄

After die cutting the heart out of the paper, I added some craft foam beneath it for extra dimension.  I die cut the leaves repeatedly from white cardstock until I had enough to surround the heart, and added them to the back of the heart with glue.  

From the Rainbow Twirl D paper, I cut  a section that was 5" x 6" for my card front.  I attached this to a card base I had created in the same dimensions.   

I cut the "YOU" sentiment three times and stacked them together with glue.  The "love" sentiment was cut once from white cardstock and once from a scrap of the Rainbow Twirl D paper, and I glued these together with the coloured paper on top. 

To assemble the card, I adhered the "YOU" sentiment at the bottom and glued the "love" sentiment over top of it.  Then I glued the heart above the sentiment at a slight angle.   I added a few of the clear crystal mix gems scattered over the top of the card.  Finally, I used my corner rounder to round the two right hand edges on the top and bottom to soften the look.

Protea Floral Card

Hello everyone!  I've got a floral card today where I've used a rather generic sentiment.  I think this card could be used for so many occasions and I love to have cards like that in my stash, as I usually don't know on what occasion I'll use them.

Paper Rose Studio supplies used: Slimline Protea Bouquet Clear Stamp 28222, Doodle Flower Coverplate 1 Metal Cutting Die 20553, Black & White A5 12pc Sentiment Sheets 19023. Other supplies: Copic markers, Prismacolour pencil crayons, black Sakura Glaze pen, gold beads, Simon Says Stamp Fog ink.

This is a beautiful slimline stamp, but I've used it on a 4 1/2" x 6" card and it fills the card front perfectly.  I stamped the image onto Neenah Solar Crest 80# cardstock, using the Fog ink.  There's a lot of detail in the stamp, and I didn't want to use black ink as it would have significantly darkened the image. I left the stamp in my stamp positioner for the time being. I used Copic markers to colour in the image, and although I didn't keep a list of the markers used, here is a list of the ones I do remember using. (RV25, RV23, RV21, RV10, RV69, RV19 for the Protea flower; Y19, Y08, Y02 for the yellow flowers; E97, E93, E01, BV08, BV04 for the three flowers at the bottom.  I added some yellow prismacolour pencil to these as well, and used the black glaze pen to add dots to the centers; YR27, YR23, Y08, BV02, V15 for the coneflower type flowers at the top. I added purple pencil crayon to these as well; the leaves were done with YG67, YG17, YG03, YG01, G94, G82, BG75, BG72 and BG70). After I had coloured the image in with markers, I went back in and added touches of pencil crayon as noted above to highlight some of the flowers.  Once I was satisfied with the colouring, I placed the image back in my stamp positioner, and stamped it again with the Fog ink, to help bring back some of the details.  Then I fussy cut out the image which wasn't too hard to do, but I don't mind fussy cutting.  

 Next, I die cut the Doodle Flower coverplate die from 110# white cardstock and attached it to my 4 1/2" x 6" card base in the center.  I popped the floral image up on foam tape and adhered it down towards the left of my card.  

I gold foiled the sentiment strip, using my laminator.  I love that sentiment! It's just perfect for so many occasions.  After foiling it, I trimmed it down and attached it with foam tape over the floral image, offsetting it to the right.  Finally, I added some gold beads for a little extra shine.

Floral Thank You Card

Hello again and welcome!  We were having a horribly cold winter day here in Canada when I made this card, and I just felt like colouring and staying warm inside.  So I actually combined two floral stamp sets for this one, but I think either one of these two sets alone would have been good enough.

Paper Rose supplies used:  Spring Bloom Stamp Set 25282, Hayley's Bouquet Stamp Set 25240,  Hand Lettered Thanks Metal Cutting Die 25606,  Little Swirls 6x6" Stencil 19724,  Little Foliage 1 Metal Cutting Die 21099. Other supplies: Nuvo Glacier Paste in Pineapple Delight, Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Sparkle Powder in Sandstorm, Copic markers.

I used Copic markers to colour in the images, but I only coloured the portions that I thought would be on the card. After colouring, I fussy cut them out, leaving  a wide margin around the bottom as I wasn't sure exactly how they would fit on the card.

For the card base (5 1/2" square), I cut from 110# white cardstock, a 5 1/2" x 11" piece, scored it in the middle at 5 1/2", and then folded and creased it to make my card base.  I also cut a piece of 5 1/2" square yellow cardstock for the front.  I placed the Little Swirls stencil over the yellow card and applied a layer of the Nuvo Glacier Paste.  While the stencil was still in place, I sprinkled the Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Sparkle Powder over top, and then lightly misted with about 2 or 3 mists of water.  Just enough water to activate the powder.  Then I removed the stencil and washed it, and allowed the card front to dry.

I die cut from white cardstock several of the leafy foliage and three of the Thanks die cuts.  I stacked and glued the Thanks die cuts together, and stacked and glued two each of the foliage die cuts.  

Once the card front was dry, I glued it onto the card base. I arranged the foliage in a wreath shape and then figured out the arrangement of the flowers.  I mounted the flowers on foam tape and adhered them to the bottom of the card.  I trimmed off the excess flowers from the back of the card.  Finally, I glued the thanks sentiment into place within the wreath.  I wish you could see how shiny this card really is, as that Glacier Paste really adds a lot of shine.

Belle Fleur Window Card

 Hello again, there’s a new release at Craft Consortium called Belle Fleur. This is a beautiful collection of very elegant floral cardstock in neutral tones, stamps, ribbon,  and other ephemera that all coordinate together. It’s perfect for those wedding, anniversary, engagement and feminine birthday cards. I’ve created a card today that has a see-through acetate window. 

I started by temporarily taping a card front to the card base. Then I placed a circle die in position in the lower right hand side of the card. I ran this through my die cutting machine several times to cut through both layers.  Taping the layers together ensured that the openings were cut in the same spot on both the card front and the base.  I also cut a piece of the patterned paper the same size as my card front. I placed the patterned paper under the card front and notched the same circle die into position and ran that through my die cutting machine. 

Next, I cut a piece of acetate (I used some scrap packaging) that was just big enough to cover the circle opening and made sure it had a straight edge. I sandwiched this between the card front and the card base using double sided tape to keep it in position, and making sure the straight edge was aligned with where the edge of the card should be.  

I then cut a piece of the coordinating ribbon to fit along the left hand side of the card. I adhered this with some double sided tape to the patterned paper piece, and wrapped it around to the back of the paper. Then I used some glue to attach the patterned paper to the card front, making sure the circle openings lined up. 

I then die cut the flowers and leaves from the French Marigold set by Creative Expressions. I only used the two smallest flower dies and cut them from white cardstock that I had coloured with Cosmic Shimmer Matt Chalk Polish in Custard. Since that gave them quite a yellowish look, I went over them with Matt Chalk Polish in Simply White. That helped to tone down the yellow giving a more ivory colour. I used the Antique Rosewood Matt Chalk Polish lightly on the very edges of the flowers to give a hint of colour. For the leaves, I used Matt Chalk Polish in Opulent Olive which I applied to white cardstock before cutting them out. I think it would be really pretty too if the flowers were cut from a pearlescent cardstock. 

To shape the flowers, I placed them upside down on an old spongy mouse pad and used a round ball head tool to press and shape the the petals.  Then I turned them over and used a slightly larger round ball head to press and shape the centres. I then used glue dots to attach a smaller set of petals inside a larger one. Finally, I put some liquid glue inside the centres of the flowers and added some Prills (small, round Pearl like accents) in white for the flower center. Once the glue was dry, I used a little more glue to attach the flowers around the acetate window being careful not to put them on the acetate, as it would show through from the inside.
